How to Choose the Right College for You!

Happy Monday y’all! I hope you guys had a great weekend! I know here in Virginia we had beautiful warm weather, which made the weekend enjoyable. Since it’s Monday, this blog

post is going to be focused around college. I decided to discuss “how to choose the right college for you”. Personally, I did not apply to many schools I only applied to two Universities. One being Marymount University which was my first choice and the other one being Radford University. Both campuses are beautiful, but Marymount was a better fit for me than Radford.

5 Steps on How to Determine If A College Is Right For You:

1. Visiting - If possible, you should always visit the campus you are planning on going to. There is something about getting the feel of the campus that could possibly help your decision.

2. Spending the night - I know some colleges, if not all, will allow future students (who already applied and got in) to spend the night in a dorm with a present student to get a feel of the campus as well.

3. Research - Researching the colleges that you are considering is one of the best ways to find out if that college is right for you or not. Things you could look up would be: size of campus, number of students, what kind of majors there are, the location, housing options, etc.

4. Financial Aid - The majority of college students receive some kind of financial help. Depending on the college, some give more than others. Your financial aid packet may determine where you are going to go.

5. Can you imagine yourself here for a few years - One thing to keep in the back of your mind is “could I spend a few years here”. This is something to think about because if you switch schools a lot there could be problems with transferring credits and information.
