Hey Everyone!

Today I decided to talk about my time management in college and how y’all can grow in the college setting. When I was in high school, I did not really take my studies as serious as I should have. I still did my work but I procrastinated majorly when I should not have. I was just like everyone and all I was worried about was graduating and getting out of high school. When I got into college, I made sure I changed my ways. I take my work very seriously now and I have noticed a major change in the way I feel and I have noticed that I am growing in the right direction. In college the workload is a little different than high school. In high school you have worksheets and book reports to complete but in college you have reading logs, reports, projects, and essays galore. Since the workload in college is a little bit heavier, I had to really buckle down and get my act together. Something that I needed to change was how I control my time and my work. When I receive my work for that day, I do it the same day that I got it so I know I won’t slack off and forget that I had to do it. The actual work itself is not hard at all, it’s all about how you manage your time.

Here are a few tips that can help you succeed:

  1. Read your course overlay ahead of time

  2. Plan ahead - make sure you know when you need to buckle down and study but also give yourself some free time.

  3. Make schedules - this step kind of ties with step 1. As you are reading your course overlay, write down all your assignments and their due dates in your planner to be all ready and set before the class if you can.

  4. Make checklists - before you sit down to start your work, make a checklist each day of what exactly you need to complete that way you do not forget anything important.

  5. Stay organized - being organized is a number one priority to succeed in college and really anything in life so why not start now!

For my Spring 2018 Semester of Freshman year, I decided to take on 6 classes. Since I am a Nursing Student, I have to take a few prerequisites such as; A&P Lec/Lab, En Comp 2, Intro to Philosophy, and an Intro to Theology. I am also being introduced to a Nursing class which is just going to discuss what it is like being in the nursing field. Since I have never experienced taking a Philosophy or Theology class, I have a feeling it will be a new experience and may come across some difficulties. I am hoping with my new classes and the rest of the freshman year of college I will be able to develop more study tips to share with y’all!

I hope you guys enjoyed this blog post and I hope my time management story and tips encourage y’all to better yourself with your work and time. I am definitely open for new ideas along the way so if anyone has any cool ideas that they would like to see on the blog just let me know by contacting me through my email or pm through twitter/instagram.
